Final Project Evaluation

I really enjoyed this project as a whole because I've learnt a lot about photography over the past couple of months, for example, the formal elements and how to use them in photography to make pictures better.
My favourite part of this unit was shooting in the studio because it feels more professional and it it really enjoyable because the photographs tend to come out better.
Another thing I really enjoyed about this unit is the walks we did because it was good to photograph somewhere that we had never photographed before as apposed to around the college like we usually do.
One thing I didn't enjoy about this unit was the repetitive contextual work we had to do because I much prefer going out and shooting instead of being on a computer, writing.
If I were to redo this unit I would ensure to get all my practical work done on time because I left it to the last minute and had to do it in a rush. Another thing I would improve on is to always remember the formal elements when photographing.
Overall I have enjoyed this unit a lot because I believe I have learnt a lot and it is a really fun subject.

05/01/2015 - completed

In the next four weeks I am going to improve my work by adding, and improving some of my previous work.
To improve my work I need to:

  • add to some of my work diary's and add more detail about how I have and can improve.
  • add more to some of the research logs.
  • finish the final project evaluation.

Pre-Completion Evaluation

Since I've written my mid-project evaluation, my opinion of photography has not changed much. I still really enjoy the lesson and learning about photographers and how to improve my work.
My favourite part of this topic so far has been shooting Mapplethorpe as we got to use the studio and experiment with different backgrounds and lighting.
My least favourite part so far is still writing on the blog because it is very hiring and repetitive.
To improve my photography I would again try and get my work on time instead of leaving it until last minute, although my timing has improved slightly. It is also difficult because I missed some lessons and had to catch up with the work.
As it is winter, photographing outside is less enjoyable, therefore I rush some of my shoots and not do it to the best of my ability but I know it will improve when the weather gets better.
Another aspect of photography that I enjoy is when we get to experiment with editing on photoshop because it help improve the photographs we take and lets us practise with using photoshop, although it would be helpful if I had access to photoshop at home.
Overall, I do really enjoy photography as it help my improve my skills in actually shooting photographs and also editing images.

Mid-Project Evaluation

So far in the topic of formal elements, we have photographed and experimented a lot. Although I have found a lot of it easy, for example, lines, colour, and pattern, there has been a few challenging elements, for example, depth, form and reflection.
My favorite thing so far about this topic so far, is going out and taking the pictures, because I find it the most interesting and the most enjoyable part. Although sometimes, I feel like we are told to take photographs for longer than needed.
My least favorite part of this unit, is writing on the blog because it is very repetitive and boring to write.
To improve in photography, I would try and get my work done more on time instead of leaving it until the last minute, although it would be a lot easier if I had access to Photoshop at home.
Another difficulty I am having, is that the memory on the college computer will not hold all my work  which is annoying as now I have to monitor what I have to save and it is also difficult to find it all.
Overall, I am enjoying photography a lot because it interests me and I am finding it is helping me develop my photography skills.
