Robert Mapplethorpe - Image Bank

Robert Mapplethorpe was an American photographer, most famously known for his highly stylized black and white photographs. Mapplethorpe has an amazing way of capturing portraiture by most commonly shooting in black and white which gives the images a 3d effect. The composition of his photographs are also very impressive because although he doesn't use all of the space available the way he uses space is effective.
Mapplethorpe uses space in this image very well.

In some of his photographs he also uses the element of movement.

Mapplethorpe mostly does portraiture photography in his work.

He uses contrast in his photography, mostly between colours.

Reflection is used in some of work, this is very effective as it makes his images look more 3d.

Mapplethorpe photography uses many different compositions.
